President Plevneliev launched his foundation "Solutions for the Future"

A cooperation agreement between Bulgarian Memory Foundation and the Solutions for the Future Foundation, which was recently established by President Rosen Plevneliev / 2012-2017 /, was signed during the 20th edition of  the Bulgarian Memory Foundation’s Spring Seminar. The forum is titled "Bulgaria 2017 - 10 Years Part of the European Union, Period of Challenges, Opportunities and Lessons Learned" and gathered over 200 young people from our historical diaspora in Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria. President Plevneliev was among the special guests.

Throughout his term, Rosen Plevneliev supported the initiative, and young people were often his guests at the presidential institution. The President participated in the discussion on Bulgaria's EU membership - 10 years in the big European family, as well as in the presentation "Peace, Education and Innovation". Rosen Plevneliev pointed out that Bulgaria receives more than 3 times European solidarity funds than it pays in the EU budget. "Bulgaria is one of the net beneficiaries among the EU countries. The total contributions to the EU budget for the previous programming period (2007-2013) amounts to more than € 2.6 billion, but the total cost of the EU budget for the country for the same period is over € 8.6 billion. ", adds Rosen Plevneliev.

Due to the great interest, participants from Romania, Albania and Greece joined the project for the first time this year. The young ambassadors of the European idea have the opportunity to discuss issues related to the challenges and opportunities facing the European Union, the experience of Bulgaria as an EU member state and the role of young people in the upcoming Bulgarian presidency of the EU Council in 2018.

The seminar is funded by the Bulgarian Memory Foundation and the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, the Municipality of Varna and Hans Seidel Foundation.

Ambassadors, representatives of the European institutions and the local authorities, as well as of the non-governmental sector, the business and the media attended the initiative dedicated to 10 years EU membership of our country.
